Jewell Co. Fire Station at Esbon

Jewell County to Construct New Fire Station at Esbon

Jewell County, on behalf of Fire District No. 3, has successfully demonstrated its organizational, financial and volunteer resources to be awarded KAN STEP grant in the amount of $300,000 for the construction of a new fire station in Esbon. The county will contribute $208,598 in donated labor and equipment towards the project.

The building will be a "slab-on-grade" metal building of approximately 4,160 square feet (SF) with approximately 900 SF of storage mezzanine. The project also includes approximately 3,250 SF of exterior paving (apron, sidewalks, etc.); 1,800 SF of exterior asphalt paving. The walls will be metal skin with R-19 batt insulation with metal studs and lined with 5/8" gypsum board. The ceiling will be 2' x 2' suspended at finished areas and exposed structure in the vehicle bay area. HVAC consists of split systems for the finished are and radiant tube heater for the vehicle bay area.

Architect for the project is Jones Gillam and Renz, Salina, KS. Grant administration will be provided by North Central Regional Planning Commission. The Kansas Rural Water Association will provide inspection services and technical assistance.
