    Morris County Community Center

The City of Delavan, located in Morris County in central Kansas, will be the
location for the re-modeling of their community center. The work on the
community center will have an estimated market value of $114,000 which will be
subsidized through a $74,500 KAN STEP grant and volunteer participation. KAN
STEP is an acronym for Kansas Small Town Environment Program that is funded
through the Kansas Department of Commerce and Housing. KAN STEP has successfully
used "sweat equity" to help communities reduce costs of water system
improvements and now, fire stations and community centers.
The Project Representative at Delavan is Warren Dix; the Grant Administrator is
Dave Warren with Chapman Securities; the Architect is Dan Hall of BG
Consultants. The Kansas Rural Water Association provides Inspection Services and
Assistance; Shane Holthaus and Steve Duryea are the Technical Assistants
responsible. The community
center will receive a new roof, new siding, new carpeting, a new ceiling, and
refurbishment of the interior walls. The new roof is the only item to be put out
for bids.
